The 2006-2007 LLY/LBZ Duramax Diesel TrucksThis is the legendary LBZ that everybody wants. External injectors, rapid heat glow plugs, upgraded head gaskets, and 6-speed Allison transmission these trucks are generally considered to be some of the most reliable diesel pickups on the market.
Common 2006-2007 LLY/LBZ Duramax ProblemsWhile the 2006 and 2007 Duramax trucks are said to have issues tracking pistons with proper tuning we rarely see this as a problem on these trucks. The early 2006 trucks do still suffer from a lesser-quality head gasket (much like the earlier Duramax trucks). One of our most common failures is engine wiring harness rubbing. It rubs on the inner driver's side fender which causes all sorts of electrical issues which we can fix fairly quickly and accurately. The last common issue worth is the dreaded P003A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) which more often than not requires turbo removal and rebuild/replacement.
SolutionWe stock every part you would need to complete the above jobs... from gaskets to cylinder heads as well as our experienced technicians who are used to doing these jobs for you if you'd prefer. For the wiring issue... who wants to mess around with electrical issues? It's best to bring it in to our team because we fix these issues weekly on these trucks and can get the job done the right way the first time. Thirdly, the turbo issues... while the P003A code may not currently affect the drivability of your vehicle the problem will eventually result in engine power derate and/or limp mode. Whether you choose to rebuild your turbo, do a OEM replacement turbo, or one of our performance turbos we can get the job done right!
