Power stroke engines are known for their innovative technology and good horsepower . Introduced in 1994 this engine was to be considered ahead of its time however now-a-days this technology is rapidly becoming dated in the heavy duty truck industry. This truck runs on the power stroke system (hence the name0 where heated gas exerts high pressure on the pistons of the engine. When the piston moves downward the waste heat will be exchanged to energy used to power the truck's engine and motor components. Due to the way the engine operates these engines are at higher risk of piston failure. These trucks may experience EGT sensor failure, EGR cooler clogging, injection pump failure, radiator coolant leaks, and turbo charger problems. With failures comes fixtures and Schultz Diesel Sports techs will have your power stroke engine up and running just the way it should in no time.

The recommended service interval for Powerstroke trucks is every 10,000 km or every six months, whichever comes first. However, if you use your truck in harsh conditions or for heavy towing or hauling, you may need to service it more frequently. If this is the case service intervals of 6,000km or every 4 months may be better suited.
A typical Powerstroke truck service includes an oil change, filter replacement, tire rotation, brake inspection, and a general inspection of the vehicle's key systems and components. Additional services may be recommended based on the specific needs of your truck.
Servicing your Powerstroke yourself can save you some money. Not to mention the general service tasks are also fairly easy to perform on your own. If you have a vehicle with relatively low km on it doing a majority of these services on your own shouldn’t be an issue. However SDS recommends that you have your powerstroke serviced and inspected by a professional technician every 40,000km. We also recommend that power strokes that have over 100,000km on them get serviced by a professional every other time it requires maintenance.
Some common problems with Powerstroke engines include injector failures, turbocharger issues, and problems with the EGR system. These problems can often be prevented by following the manufacturer's recommended service intervals, using high-quality fuel and oil, and keeping the engine clean and free of debris. Here at SDS we offer a wide range of preventative services for powerstrokes. If you would like more information on these services please contact us!
The cost of Powerstroke truck service can vary depending on the specific services required and the location of the service provider. Generally, you can expect to pay between $100 and $200 for a basic service, with additional services costing more. It's always a good idea to get a quote from a reputable service provider before scheduling any work on your truck.
